The Collective Action and Response for Everyone in Scarborough (C.A.R.E.S.) project is a partnership between University of Toronto Scarborough (U of T Scarborough), the City of Toronto (City) and GlobalMedics which attempts to address food insecurity issues for those in the Greater Toronto Area during the COVID-19 pandemic. From May to August, The U of Toronto Scarborough and the City supported the recruitment of 165 local volunteers who packed approximately 14 600 hygiene kits and 77 000 Kilograms of emergency food that was redistributed to just under 60 community organizations/ food banks serving local families.
