Permits and Eligibility

Eligibility

  1. Parking permits will be issued to successful applicants through the Parking Office, subject to availability.
  2. Applicants must establish eligibility for parking permit purchases. Parking Services reserves the right to deny a permit in cases where it is assessed that an applicant does not meet required criteria.
  3. Permits may be used only to vehicles bearing validated license plates. Failure to maintain validation of plates will result in revocation of parking privileges and/or tagging and/or towing of vehicles.

Permits

  1. Applications for permits must be made by the applicant in advance and online. Permits will not be sold over the phone. Applications must be filled out in their entirety by the person named on the application. Permits will be sold only to the named applicant or authorized representative. 
  2. Only one permit is issued per person.
  3. Full payment of parking fees must be submitted with the application or a permit will not be issued.
  4. Parking permits are valid for registered vehicles only. Residence parking permits require proof of vehicle registration, and the permit can only be used for the registered vehicle.
  5. Where issued, valid parking permits or daily/hourly parking receipts/tickets must be displayed at all times. 
  6. Two or more University community members may pool together and purchase one parking permit. Only one vehicle is allowed to park at the University of Toronto Scarborough at any given time.
  7. If a parking lot is filled to capacity, permit holders must search for a parking space in another lot to which their permit/prox card gives them access. No overflow parking is permitted on the hash marks, driveways, pedestrian walkways, or grass areas.
  8. Parking permits are oversold by a calculated percentage and spaces in individual lots are not guaranteed.

South Lots

  1. South Lot Day and Evening permits are sold (subject to availability) to University of Toronto Scarborough employees.
  2. For South Lot Permits for which a hangtag has been issued, the hangtag must displayed from the vehicle's rearview mirror.
  3. Prox cards are non-refundable, but may be renewed for additional terms upon the purchase of additional parking permits. Proximity cards may not be transferred to the use of another person.

North Lots

  1. North Lot permits are available to University of Toronto Scarborough employees and students, and are sold based on availability.
  2. North Lot prox cards are activated for the first day of the validity period of the permit. If the permit is purchased within the validity period of the permit, the prox card will be activated within 2 business day after parking fees have been paid.
  3. Prox cards are non-refundable, but may be renewed for additional terms upon the purchase of additional parking permits. Proximity cards may not be transferred to the use of another person.

Evening Permits

  1. Evening permits for the South Lots are available to University of Toronto Scarborough employees by payroll deduction, and are sold based on availability.
  2. Evening permits are valid only after 3:45 pm Monday through Friday, and at all times on weekends and University holidays.
  3. For South Lot Evening Permits for which a hangtag has been issued, the hangtag must displayed from the vehicle's rearview mirror.
  4. Prox cards are non-refundable, but may be renewed for additional terms upon the purchase of additional parking permits. Proximity cards may not be transferred to the use of another person.

Residence Permits

  1. Residence permits can be purchased ONLY when accompanied by vehicle registration, with the last name and/or home address of the registered owner matching that of the applicant. This is required in order to ensure that permits are sold to and used by students living in residence only.
  2. The applicant must present a valid photo ID, and be verified as living in Residence by confirmation with the office of Student Housing and Residence Life.
  3. ONE VEHICLE PER RESIDENT ONLY. Permits are available on a first come, first served basis subject to availability. Students may purchase North Lot term parking if no space is available in Residence lots.
  4. Parking Permits for students living in South Residences are valid Lots B, C and D . Parking Permits for students living in North Residences are valid Lot E. Parking elsewhere with a South/North Residence permit is unauthorized and will result in issuance of Parking infraction Notices.
  5. Guests of residents cannot park in permit holder lots; parking is available in visitor parking lots at current posted rates. See the Parking Rates page for rate information. Complimentary parkings passes for weekends and University holidays are available for a resident's guest through the Parking Services Office. Guest passes are subject to space availability and limited to one permit per resident per day.

Staff and Faculty

  1. Newly-hired eligible staff and faculty may apply for North Lot Parking. Persons requiring accessible, barrier-free parking may contact the Parking Office for information about South Lot Accessible parking.
  2. Staff and faculty who hold a valid South lot permit paid by payroll deduction have renewal privileges and may keep their existing permits through subsequent years. Cancelation of the permit forfeits renewal privileges. Exceptions are made for employees on leave (eg: parental, sabbatical, illness). Please inquire with the Parking Services for further information.

Temporary Employee Permits

  1. Temporary permits are available to accommodate staff working at University of Toronto Scarborough for a period of less than one year or for an indefinite period (i.e. replacement for staff on medical leave).
  2. Temporary permits are not available to undergraduate or graduate students, teaching assistants, or contract faculty.
  3. Temporary permits are sold on a monthly basis. The permit price is equivalent to an annual permit divided by 12, and sale depends on availability. There are no refunds for partially used months, and only one permit may be purchased at a time.
  4. Eligible staff may obtain an application form from Human Resources. The form must be signed by a representative of Human Resources Services and brought to the Parking Office for processing. This form is required only for the purchase of the applicant's first temporary permit. Subsequent purchases require only completion of an application form available in the Parking Services office.

EV Charging Permits (coming May 2024)

  1. EV Charging permits are available to UTSC employees with an electric vehicle and valid UTSC employee parking permit.
  2. The EV charging spaces are reserved for vehicles that are actively charging, with a 4-hour time limit.
  3. After disconnection, returning to an EV charging station within 1 hour is prohibited.
  4. EV Charging permits must be displayed from the vehicle's rearview mirror.
  5. EV Charging permits must be returned to Parking Services if the associated employee permit is discontinued or not renewed.

St. George Campus Parking Permits

  1. The UTSC Parking Office sells the following unreserved permits to eligible Staff and Faculty only, for use at the St. George Campus: Staff/Faculty Permits: Eight- or twelve-month permits used in conjunction with a of University of Toronto Scarborough permit. Payment may be made either by payroll deduction (if eligible) or credit card.

St. George/UTM/UofT Scarborough Reciprocal Parking Agreements

  1. U of T Scarborough students who also attend classes at either the St. George or UTM Campuses must purchase parking from those respective parking offices. St. George parking inquiries - 416-978-7275. UTM Campus parking inquiries - 905-828-5254.
