A Department of Health and Society professor has been recognized with an award from a national organization of medical educators.

Assistant Professor Walter Tavares was one of the recipients of the 2023 CAME (Canadian Association for Medical Education) Certificate of Merit Award. The award aims to promote medical education in Canadian medical schools and to recognize and reward faculty’s commitment to medical education.

“The Canadian Association for Medical Education is a progressive scholarly organization made up of individuals and groups committed to the advancement of and excellence in medical education,” said Prof. Taveres. “I’m thrilled to have the work that I have been part of recognized by this community and to join many other accomplished scholars in this award. I’m thankful to the University of Toronto, specifically the Wilson Centre for Health Professions Education Research, the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, and the Department of Health and Society for their ongoing support of our work.”
