In a new article in Contexts, Department of Health and Society Associate Professor Michelle Silver examines expectations around retirement and concludes that they need to be updated.

In the “The Retirement Paradox,” Prof. Silver discusses the “fundamental tension between the autonomy, flexibility, and the lack of boundaries” that are associated with retirement and “our interest in maintaining structure, a sense of connection to society, and personal fulfillment.”
