Scarborough Oral History Project

Scarborough Oral History Project

Discussions with other faculty interested in the approach and methods of service learning and nearby history led to the development of the new Scarborough Oral History Project (SOHP). The initiative builds on and expands existing university-community collaborations among UTSC faculty and community organizations in Scarborough and will give student and faculty researchers the opportunity to engage directly with community members in retelling the story of Scarborough from within. The SOHP will house a searchable, community-accessible audio/video oral history database available to researchers.  Training, archiving, and presentation will be accomplished in collaboration with the MHSO and the UTSC Digital Scholarship Unit (DSU).    Contact:  Christine Berkowitz, History, Ahmed Allahwala, City Studies, and Connie Guberman, Womens’ and Gender Studies,
