BAC (Build. Act. Change) November 2013 Events:

Can you believe it's already November? This month, Build. Act. Change. Preventing Violence Together (BAC) has several exciting, free, accessible events on campus you're invited to attend. As November (aka Movember) is a month when masculinity is on all our minds, we're especially excited to welcome New York actor, writer, poet and activist Carlos Andrés Gómez on the evening of Thursday, November 21st  for a show called "Man Up?" that consider the pressures of modern masculinity. Attendance at any of our events this month will count as a credit toward UTSC's Leadership Development Program's weLead stream. Details about our events and signup links are below.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12th from 5PM to 7PM in IC-302. We're hosting a free film screening of Tough Guise 2 - Violence, Manhood & American Culture. Anti-violence educator and activist Jackson Katz takes a closer look at the "ongoing epidemic of men's violence in America... In a sweeping analysis that cuts across racial, ethnic, and class lines, Katz examines mass shootings, day-to-day gun violence, violence against women, bullying, gay-bashing, and American militarism against the backdrop of a culture that has normalized violent and regressive forms of masculinity in the face of challenges to traditional male power and authority." Refreshments will be provided and a brief discussion will follow the screening.  Sign up on the Intranet here: https://intranet.utsc.utoronto.ca/intranet2/s2/booking/show.action?eventid=291945

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21st from 5PM to 8PM in SW-128. BAC welcomes New York's Carlos Andrés Gómez to UTSC for a performance and discussion called "Man Up?"
