Biography:

Daniel Scott Tysdal is the author of two books of poetry, The Mourner’s Book of Albums (Tightrope 2010) and Predicting the Next Big Advertising Breakthrough Using a Potentially Dangerous Method (Coteau 2006). Predicting received the 2007 ReLit Award for Poetry and the 2006 Saskatchewan Book Award for Best Book of Poetry. His creative writing poetry handbook, The Writing Moment: A Practical Guide to Creating Poems, is forthcoming from Oxford University Press in the fall of 2013. Daniel began teaching at UTSC in 2009, and, as a member of the Department of English, he teaches academic courses on poetry, the short story, and the comic book, and creative writing courses in poetry and fiction. In 2012, the UTSC student newspaper, The Underground, named him one of their four “Professors of the Year.” When not in his office (or riding the rocket), Daniel can be found at the AGO, TIFF, Type Books, The Beguiling, or some random street, discovering material for a strange story or peculiar poem.
