Abigeya Hailemichael, a student in the Department of Language Studies at UTSC, has received a University of Toronto Excellence Award (UTEA) for the Summer 2021 term.
Under the supervision of Dr. Rena Helms-Park, Abigeya will spend this summer researching diagnostic language tests for Amharic-speaking children. Abigeya is a fourth-year student pursuing a double major in Linguistics and Psychology.
This UTEA award provides a stipend of $6,000 to work on original, supervised research in the Department of Language Studies. This year, there are only four UTEA awards across the entire UTSC campus - Abigeya's is one of only two awards in the Social Sciences and Humanities!
We'd like to offer our most sincere congratulations to Abigeya and Dr. Helms-Park. Best wishes for a summer of fascinating research.
