CAP Lab hosts facilities to conduct linguistic, psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic experiments. In many cases, the aim of this research is to unravel the cognitive and perceptual mechanisms that underlie our ability to perceive and produce spoken and written language using an array of methodological approaches. In particular, a sound-attenuated cabin exists for performing perception and production experiments, and a 32-channel electroencephalography (EEG) system is available for brain-imaging studies that provide a window into the pre-decision dynamics of perception.
CAP Lab research is currently supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada.
