Biography

Dr. Malama Tsimenis holds a Ph.D. in 19th century French literature from the University of Montreal. Before joining the University of Toronto, she taught at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and the University of San Diego (USD). For the past nine years, she has been teaching at UTSC where she has been recognized for her commitment to undergraduate teaching through various awards and nominations.

Dr. Tsimenis gives seminars and leads workshops on pedagogical issues to both faculty and graduate students, works closely with the Teaching Assistants’ Training Program, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (UTSC) and the Centre for Teaching Support and Innovation (St. George campus).  She also works closely with teaching assistants both as a mentor and as a coordinator for language courses. Her research interests lay in literary criticism, prefatory discourse, esthetic theory and innovative pedagogy. More recently, her research evolves around experiential learning, interactive assessment tools and blended learning.
