CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

 

The Department of Language Studies and the LSA are proud to bring you the 9th annual Scarborough Undergraduate Linguistics Conference (SULC). SULC is an opportunity for undergraduate students to engage with their peers and present findings from their current research projects. The 9th annual SULC will be taking place Friday March 4th, 2022 through a hybrid model of in-person and Zoom conference. (Please note this is subject to change based on the University’s health and safety guidelines).

We accept abstracts from undergraduate Linguistics students from any university in the world. International presenters will be able to present via Zoom.

 

ABSTRACT REQUIREMENTS

One (1) page abstract (300 words max.) per research project*. We accept submissions relating to any linguistics subfield, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, computational linguistics, historical linguistics, language acquisition, language variation, multilingualism, comparative analysis, etc.

 

*Maximum of one (1) sole author and one (1) co-authored project per person. We accept both in-progress and completed research.

 

PRIZES

  • Cash prizes for Top 3 presentations!
  • Certificate awards for each participating student researcher.

 

DETAILS AND DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS

  • Must be sent in via E-MAIL as attachments in MS Word or PDF format to linguisticsclub.utsc@gmail.com by the extended deadline of 11:59 PM, January 31st, 2022.
  • Please include the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the researchers in your email.
