Taraneh Vejdani in Jamaica

Taraneh Vejdani

Hello friends and colleagues, In the blink of an eye, I will be traveling to Kingston, Jamaica to work with Junior Achievement Jamaica (AJA) as the youth program advisor. I will be supporting and strengthening AJA’s aim to empower Jamaica’s youth in business and financial independence. A great thanks to Cuso International and our amazing program that has made this dream come true.

As a first time traveller to the Caribbean, I am very excited to learn more about the culture and social reality of the country. I am also very excited to learn about the practical aspects of development work and how theories and policies actually turn into action.

As my work centres on student life, I am exploring research possibilities in regards to the Jamaican education system for high schools and the impact of different social identities such as race, gender, and religion on the students’ academic and social lives.

I am grateful for the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship and Wu Yee Sun Scholarship that make this incredible opportunity possible.

I am beyond excited to continue sharing my journey. You can find out more about what I am doing through my Instagram account (TjourneyinJamaica).
