Hello cyber world, I have never been any good at keeping in touch via the inter-web, however I guess this is my chance to reverse this stereotype placed upon me and update all of you lovely people on what is going on!
In just the blink of an eye I will be in beautiful Cartagena, Colombia, interning with El Colegio del Cuerpo, an inclusive cultural and pedagogical space that uses the body as a means to achieve, express and create its educational goals (drooool, how cool does that sound?!?). I have been a perfomance geek for as long as I can remember, meaning my 4 year old self would coerce my parents and their friends (mine were in limited quantity) to watch me put on long wigs and makeshift dresses while singing Shania Twain songs in my living room. This evolved into something that I believe is (hopefully) a little more productive as I have become increasingly interested in the way that communities mobilize with the use of artistic mediums, and how this brings about radical political movements and change. So naturally, I am extremely grateful for El Colegio del Cuerpo to welcome me into their dancing family, where I am excited to learn from their movement and most importantly.. DANCE!
