Kate Jongbloed (Class of 2008)

Kate Jongbloed is a researcher and freelance writer in global health and international development. She blogs for Plan Canada’s Because I am a Girl Campaign and is the web coordinator for HealthyHousing.ca. A Master’s student at the University of British Columbia School of Population and Public Health, her research focuses on harm reduction, housing stability and HIV vulnerability among young Aboriginal people who use drugs. Her research is part of the Cedar Project and is funded by a CIHR HIV/AIDS Community-Based Research award and an IMPART Fellowship. During her BA (Hons) at the University of Toronto International Development Studies Co-op Program, Kate investigated the role of micro-economic programs in HIV prevention in Ethiopia.
