Irina D. Mihalache is Assistant Professor of Museum Studies at the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto. Her research interests lie at the intersection of museum, food and communication studies. Her work looks primarily at practices of eating in museums and the use of taste to reflect critically on social and cultural histories in cultural institutions. She is also interested in the performance of masculinities in the Food Network and Cooking Channel kitchens. In addition, she researches and writes on post-colonial food cultures in France and post-socialist cuisine in Eastern Europe. She is currently examining the history of menus at the AGO and the historic foodways program at Fort York. Irina loves visiting museum gift shops and restaurants. In order to conduct her research, she watches many hours of food television. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, food magazines, Netflix and Paris.
