Sophie Chrysostomou joined CMS in 1989. Over the years she has taught many courses including Calculus, Algebra, Number Theory, Real Analysis and other courses. The last few years, she has spent lot of time and effort invested in studying methods (as well as the effectiveness of these methods) of teaching first year Calculus to students not in a math program. She is also involved with outreach activities such as the conference "Math in Motion...Girls in Gear!" (aimed to encourage girls with math abilities to consider studies in related mathematical fields) and the "Math Kangaroo" contest for grades 1-12.
