Biography: 

Alejandro Pérez received his PhD in Health Sciences, with specialization in Cognitive Neuroscience, from Cuban Neurosciences Center and under the supervision of Prof. M. Valdés-Sosa. He worked in the BCBL, Basque Center on Brain and Language with Prof. M. Carreiras until 2017. He has conducted studies in different areas of cognitive psychology and medical neuroscience using different high-performance brain imaging techniques and psychophysics. He is currently focused on studying the interbrain synchronization that takes place during speech production and speech perception. Understanding how and when the rhythms of brainwaves of different people match each other is a key factor in understanding language and social interactions in general. Dr. Alejandro Pérez ultimate goal is to be able to externally modulate multiple brain synchronization in order to induce behavioral changes, something with numerous practical applications.

Research Interests: 

Brain-to-brain entrainment, brain-to-speech entrainment, interbrain synchronization, language, neuroimaging (EEG, hyperscanning, TEs, MRI), interpersonal communication.
