Maria Mateus in Peru

Saludos a tod@s!

My name is Maria and for my ten month placement with Uniterra (a WUSC & CECI program) I will be working with the Canada Peru Chamber of Commerce (CPCC) as a Strategic Planning Officer in Lima.

Becoming a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship made this opportunity possible along with the Uniterra program jointly implemented by WUSC & CECI. I’ll be working on my thesis research (topic to follow) as I work with the Canada Peru Chamber of Commerce.

This organization whose goal it is to provide reliable information in the promotion and development of close trade and cultural relations between Canada and Peru in the mutual interests of both countries. I will be helping on sectors such as identifying opportunities for women and peruvian students of limited resources. I will also be supporting in developing a strategic plan and determining other monitoring and evaluation indicators. I have no idea what my day to day will look like but I can imagine it will involve office work and research as well as a lot of writing. I’m excited to learn a lot and contribute whatever I can to the future operations of the organization where I will be working. Once my mandate ends in ten months I hope to have a good thesis topic and lots of research that I can share with my organization to help inform future activities.

I’ll also be posting occasionally on my instagram account:
