Get physical, be literate!
The Physical Literacy Campaign at UTSC is an initiative focused on educating students (like YOU!) around the benefits of physical activity for academic performance, mental health, and overall well-being. Physical and Health Education Canada states that, "individuals who are physically literate move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments that benefit the healthy development of the whole person.” We want the students of UTSC to develop beyond the classroom and embody this ideology. The initiative targets students who do not include physical activity as one of their main priorities. Of particular interest are those students who are immersed in their academic goals and may not see the connection between physical activity and the realization of those goals. Overall, we want to show UTSC students that physical activity is important for their holistic development AND can be accommodated to their personal lives.
The campaign uses several components, including print and social media, to change the mindset of the UTSC community on the importance of engaging in physical activity on a regular basis. Worried about finding time in your schedule?
