Indigeneity, Sport & Wellbeing (Moving Towards Equity)

Join us for free pizza and a discussion to connect, learn, build, heal and share your needs and ideas in a different kind of space within UTSC Athletics & Recreation. The topic for this Moving Towards Equity discussion is: Indigeneity, Sport & Wellbeing.

This discussion will help inform how future Athletics programming can cater to broader Indigenous communities. Our aim is to build trust and community with marginalized students by showing them that UTSC Athletics & Recreation is a keystone for equity that is committed to their growth and wellbeing in ways beyond physical activity.

Moving Towards Equity is a discussion group that centres the myriad of issues that marginalized students face. It is primarily for marginalized UTSC students (e.g. people of colour, LGBTQ2SI+, etc.) who may not be engaged with UTSC Athletics & Recreation’s programming or services. It targets this population in order to set a foundation for community building and knowledge sharing around equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) frameworks as it relates to health, wellness, recreation, and sport. As such, the content and structure of the discussion will place a large emphasis on EDI skills, while pairing each discussion with a relevant activity (sport or non-sport related).
