UTSCAA President's message

The University of Toronto Scarborough Campus Alumni Association has 2 mandates. Our first mandate is to reach out and connect with more than 49,000 alumni members through educational and social events. Our second mandate is to support and make a difference in the lives of our 13,000 UTSC students.

We host social events, such as the Afternoon Tea, that allows for alumni members to reconnect, socialize and celebrate together.

In addition, we host educational that provide support and information for students. This includes mentoring and supporting current UTSC programs and events such as UTSC’s The Hub. The Hub is a program that helps entrepreneurial students bring their ideas to life and provides mentorship to help them create a successful start-up. We also have a supportive relationship with the Campus’ Health and Wellness Centre. In the past we have collaborated with the centre’s Mental Health Network to create events that are open to UTSC alumni, students, staff and faculty. One of the events we had previously held was a panelist of speakers who discussed topics in mental health. We had an addiction counsellor, a youth, and an Indigenous Elder come and speak about mental health and Marijuana at this event.

Another on-going partnership we have is with the UTSC’s Department of Alumni Relations office. With this partnership we help to provide students with one-on-one mentoring and sessions that focus on career and leadership. The Partners in Leadership program is an example of one of the many opportunities that we take part in to support and help create a difference in the students’ lives.

We are truly gaining recognition as an international university in Canada and a leading centre for academic, cultural, social and recreational advancement in the community of East Toronto. I am proud to be a graduate of UTSC. I encourage all alumni to stay connected with UTSC through the alumni website, the Commons magazine, newsletters, and social media. We look forward to welcoming you back this year at our alumni events and hopefully as part of our executive or advisory board membership.

If you are interested in giving back, supporting and helping to enrich the lives of both UTSC students and alumni, please fill out the application form and apply to be part of the UTSC Alumni Association.
