Studio Art at the University of Toronto Scarborough

Bring your artistic ideas to life in our studio art program, where you’ll learn in our hands-on classes and state-of-the-art labs, and get special attention and mentorship from a diverse faculty of award-winning, internationally renowned practicing artists.  

Choose from courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, performance art, video, new media, animation, and conceptual practices. You can also take specialized courses in digital imaging, sound art, and kinetics. Our diverse course offerings give you a combination of technical, theoretical, conceptual and critical skills, and the ability to communicate your ideas confidently in a variety of artistic media. Our major program will give you the skills needed for a career in the arts and media industries, while our specialist program offers you focused preparation if your goal is to pursue graduate studies in visual art. 

You will be exposed to the most up-to-date developments in contemporary art-making, criticism, and curation, and you will study the history of art from diverse cultural and historical perspectives. The program will expand your knowledge of how art is made, as well as your understanding of why art is essential in the world today.
