Strategic Management at the University of Toronto Scarborough

Our program prepares you to become one of the most senior people in an organization, with unique training that combines theoretical models with real-world practical applications. You’ll get hands-on training in experiential courses taught by a faculty of experienced business leaders and world-class researchers in business strategy. Understand what it takes to guide an entire organization over the medium and long term, and get valuable insights into how all functional areas of a business — such as marketing, finance and human resource management — operate and connect to one another.

Develop an in-depth understanding of organizations — you’ll study how they determine their mission, analyze their external and internal environments and make choices about how best to compete in their industry.

By pursuing our co-op option, you’ll apply your learning in the real world through three 4-month work terms at leading companies — our students have found placements and full-time employment at companies including PwC Canada, Deloitte, KPMG and Rogers Communication.

Tailor your learning to fit your goals with our program’s two streams:

  • Management Strategy stream: Get a broad exposure to all functional areas of management, and prepare for senior management roles in private sector, public sector, non-for-profit organizations and management consulting firms.
  • Entrepreneurship stream: Develop the practical skills needed to pursue self-employment or become an entrepreneur, including the tools to launch a start-up, take over a family business or work in consulting.

Aspiring entrepreneurs can also develop their skills and launch their companies with the New Venture Program, housed at The BRIDGE — a cutting-edge academic space for management studies.
