Health Humanities at the University of Toronto Scarborough

This unique offering is Canada’s first minor program in health humanities. Health humanities is usually studied in professional education, but we believe undergraduate students should be able to explore this emerging and important field. Discover how the arts and humanities create opportunities to explore human health, illness and disability, and gain a unique intellectual toolkit to critically investigate representations of each.

You’ll work with a range of award-winning faculty members, researchers and students, getting excellent practice with the interdisciplinary collaboration skills needed for careers related to health. We focus on giving you the skills to analyze both the theoretical and practical aspects of health studies, and you’ll explore how literature, philosophy, history and social sciences can reveal insights about health, disability, medical research and policy.
