What’s your favourite course at U of T Scarborough and why?
CITC01H3 Urban Communities and Neighbourhoods, Case Study: East Scarborough. Reason being the course structure — we did not just learn theoretically. There was a lot of group work because as class of around 20 students partnered up with a class of grade 12 students from Blessed Mother Therese CSS and conducted research and presented suggestions/solution for Malvern community’s issue in regards to accessible mobility. As you can see, the course involved group work, presentations (presented in front of community staff members) and community research. I prefer experiential learning and collaboration over traditional form of learning, and this course was a great fit for me.
Who’s your favourite professor at U of T Scarborough and why?
My favourite proffessor was Professor Allahwala (he was the one that thought CITC01). All the courses I have taken in regards to City Studies were taught by this one professor. I chose certain courses because he integrates different ways of presenting content (movies, documentaries, PowerPoint, class discussion, etc.) and it was not the traditional way of presenting content. I also realized he understands a student's life and offers accommodations in regards to assignments if necessary.
What’s your favourite spot on campus and why?
The Bladen Wing study area would be my most favourite place. My friends and I love to study and hang out in that location. That area has been filled with laugh-filled memories.
Why did you decide to come to U of T Scarborough?
I decided to come to U of T Scarborough because I loved the welcoming vibe for every event that I attended. Moreover, the staff, professors and students seemed like great mentors and leaders. I felt like I belonged to the campus right away and I was able to see myself as a successful student at U of T Scarborough prior to applying.
Why did you decide to become a Student Recruitment Assistant (SRA)?
I decided to become an SRA because from my volunteer experiences, I realized I liked representing U of T Scarborough and being part of student success. I wanted to take it a step further, and so I applied for this position, have been in this position for quite some time and love my experience overall.
