Call for Proposals

Students Projects

for Fall 2018 and Winter 2019 Terms*

*Funds from this round must be spent by April 30 2019

Proposal deadline: Monday, October 22, 2018

The EDA Committee in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media (ACM) at University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is looking to fund creative student-led artistic and/or research projects for students enrolled in any program within the Department of Arts, Culture and Media.

What Is EDA?

EDA is an exciting new initiative based on a long-standing endowment partnership between the Federal Government and the University of Toronto. It is an integral part of the ACM and its mandate is to promote diversity of all kinds, including diversities of race, gender, socio-economic status, sexual orientation or identity, age, ability or disability, religion and aesthetic or traditions of practice. Through various kinds of student support, EDA aims to increase understanding across difference, to challenge social and institutional barriers to equity, and to empower students to champion diversity in their professional pursuits.

Eligible projects and grant amount

Eligible projects include new individual or collaborative student projects from across the ACM Department that help to further the aims of the EDA mandate. Projects can be creative and/or research oriented and from any discipline. (EDA also funds a number of placement bursaries for Arts Management students, for which there is a separate call.) Students are eligible to receive funding if they are officially enrolled as full-time or part-time students in an ACM Program in the Fall 2018 and Winter 2019 terms. Students may submit only one application. If you are part of a collective, one person needs to be named as the lead applicant. Students can submit grant request for $500, $750, or $1,000 for Student Projects in this round of funding.

2018-2019 EDA Committee

Evie Gu (ACM Faculty), Will Kwan (ACM Faculty, EDA Chair) Elliot Leffler (ACM Faculty), Jennifer Xu (Student Rep), Angela Tran (ACM Communications), Kae Klith (ACM Programming and Events) will evaluate proposals and make recommendations for funding to the ACM Chair.
