ACM Fall Term Updates

Letter from the Chair - May 25, 2020

Dear ACM Students,

First and foremost, I hope this message finds you and your families safe and healthy. It has been a tumultuous time for us all and we hope that positive steps taken will help us return to some degree of normalcy sooner than later.

In recent days, you will have received correspondence and updates from the senior administration of the university, as well as from our own campus leadership team, regarding the initial steps taken on pathways forward, including guaranteed remote learning access for the Fall term (see below). It is taking some time to create new and modify existing structures that will guide us in the coming months, so we appreciate and thank you for your patience.

In our ACM courses, we come together to think critically and to use the resources at our collective disposal to create joy, to create community, to create better worlds.  This won’t be any different this year; in fact, the need to connect, create and imagine has become more urgent. For that reason, have been brainstorming ways to preserve our sense of community, of collaboration, of togetherness in and through our work, even in the face of the physical obstacles. Our Fall 2020 will operate smoothly in terms of all our offerings, including those with our partners at Centennial College. Our staff and faculty have already been working hard to develop courses, technical supports and programming that will continue to meet the high standards we have come to expect.

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing details for what to expect in each ACM program. For now, please know we are still here for you and that you can reach out with any questions or concerns you may have (for your convenience, you can find a list of resources and contacts below).

Warmly,

Barry Freeman
