Nearly 500 alumni returned to campus in the spring to celebrate UTSC’s 50th Anniversary edition of the Spring Reunion. Over three days, alumni, staff and faculty alike enjoyed a weekend of celebrating UTSC’s tradition of athletic and intellectual excellence.
UTSC graduates reunited with Taimo Pallandi, who served as the campus’s first Athletics Director for 26 years, and his successor Jaan Laniste. Participants also rubbed elbows with UTSC faculty, including psychology professor John Kennedy, who had a chance to see some of his former students again.
The weekend finished with a special 50th Anniversary celebration and lunch. The food reflected the diverse cultures that have come to be part of UTSC’s neighbourhood, and in Gallery 1265, alumni browsed the archival photos on the wall, some of them even finding themselves in the pictures from their days on campus. Past UTSC Principals Joan Foley and Paul Thompson visited, and helped to cap the day off by cutting UTSC’s 50th Anniversary cake.
