Party In The Right Spirit program is a wellness program initiated by the Health & Wellness Centre at University of Toronto Scarborough in September 2009. It is associated with the Toronto Public health. The program is run by a dedicated team of Peer Educator volunteers and a Campus Program Coordinator, trained by TPH staff.
The main goal of the program is to create alcohol awareness on campus, educating students about issues related to alcohol impairment, liability of hosting social events, and violence prevention strategies. The purpose of the program is not to discourage students from drinking alcohol, but to educate them about various issues related to alcohol use so that they can make responsible decisions when consuming alcohol to increase their safety and that of their friends.
The PITRS team provides this information through displays, Wellness Wednesday workshops, Liability seminars, movie nights and various other events. In addition, the program also offers a large collection of pamphlets with information which serve as useful resources.
