UTSC in the Fall

As an integral part of Canada's pre-eminent public research university, the Department of Social Sciences is home to a substantial number of scholars (35 permanent faculty, and another 30 part-time) actively engaged in research, teaching, and graduate supervision.

Many research projects are housed here, such as: Cities Lab, Centre for Gibraltar Studies, the Anthropological Primatology Lab, Bioline, and Women's Health and Urban Life.

The Department is home to 38 distinct undergraduate programs leading to B.A. and B.Sc. degrees.

This includes co-op programs, joint programs with Centennial College, and regular programs. Also, there are 7,000 students each term (up from 3,875 students just five years ago) who enroll in the Social Science Department’s various undergraduate programs and 120 Teaching Assistants who help guide them on their path to higher education.
