Applying for Fall/Winter OSAP
Apply Early - It's important that you financially plan for the upcoming academic study period. In order to do so, apply early! That way you can finalize your budget and you can determine if you need to look for more sources of funding to help finance your postsecondary studies. You also avoid penalties and minimize any financial hardships that result from receiving your funding late in the year.

The OSAP online application for the Fall/Winter sessions is normally available in the middle of May. You need to apply each year.
Two Ways to Apply
Although there are two ways to apply for OSAP, you can only choose one way to apply:
- You can download a paper application from OSAP website or come in to pick up the form (Room AA142). Although you can apply using a paper application, we do not recommend this option as there is a cost of $10. Your completed paper applications together with supporting documentation must be submitted to our office (Room AA142).
or
- Apply online, through the OSAP website.
- Apply online at thet OSAP website. To complete your application you must submit the signature pages and all supporting documents to the Registrar's Office (Room AA142).
- Make sure you check your OSAP status on a regular basis over the summer to ensure your funding will be available on the first day of classes.
- Assessments (amount you will receive) are available by mid July.
We recommend using the online application, as it is easy to use and will provide you with an estimate of funding upon completion and it's free.
No matter which way you choose to apply for assistance, care should be taken with your application as any errors or incomplete information will cause delays to the approval and receipt of funding.
Remember, your application is not considered complete until you bring in the following:
- All the Signature and Declaration Pages (yours, your parent(s) or spouse/partner)
- Any supporting documentation - for example, if you are a permanent resident, you must bring us a copy of your permanent resident card or the document proving that you are a permanent resident.
Step By Step Instructions for First Time Applicants
Please download this handy reference to help you with the online application process. This guide also includes information about how to check the status of your application and general information about your OSAP account.
Check Your Status Regularly
Approximately 4 days after you submit your application, you should have an official assessment on your file. If you don't see an amount in the Total Funding Issued section of your OSAP account, first check to see if there is additional information required. You do this by clicking on "Check Status". If you don't see anything, contact the Financial Aid Office, in person, in Room AA142, or by phone at 416-287-7001.
Deadlines to Apply
To receive assistance, you must ensure that your application and supporting documents are received by certain dates.
One Term |
If you are applying for only one session (the Fall or Winter or Summer), your application and supporting documents must be receiving within 30 days of the start of the study period. You will not receive assistance if your application is received after that time. |
Two Terms |
If you are applying for the Fall and Winter (September to May) sessions, your application and supporting documents must be receiving 90 days prior to the end of the study period (approximate the end of January). You will be considered for the entire study period if your application is received within 45 days of the study period start. A penalty will apply if the application is received after that time (i.e. you will receive pro-rated assistance from the day your application is received). You will not receive assistance if your application is received within the last 90 days of your study period. |
