The first couple of weeks on campus can be quite daunting as you get used to your new environment. UTSC is dedicated to alleviating your fears and concerns, and has created several programs specifically for first year students to ease the transition from high school to university.

A series of Get Started seminars are offered throughout the summer, to better prepare you for university life. Participating in Orientation Week is a great to get acquainted with the campus and make new friends. Those living in residence can get involved with the Student Residence Council for opportunities to enhance their home-away-from-home experience.

The Passport Program is a great way to be recognized for your extra-curricular involvement on and off campus. It is a fun and easy way to encourage first year students to explore the campus, become familiar with resources and take part in a variety of events and activities.

The Student Mentorship Program aims to provide assistance with the first year transition to university. Student Mentors provide personal and academic support to first year students, and serve as a resource and referrals contact person.

The Academic Advising & Career Centre offers a wealth of information for first year students in addition to a variety of departments who work hard to ensure you have the tools and information to succeed!
