An inter-departmental group fostering basic research in the evolution of mating systems in plants and animals.
UTORMS includes 12 principal investigators in the Departments of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Anthropology across the three campuses of the University of Toronto.
We are united by a primary research focus on the evolutionary dynamics of mating systems in plants and animals. Approaches span the levels of analysis, from the genetic bases of reproductive phenotypes through phylogenetic patterns of mating system evolution.
Our group supports a unique breadth and depth of expertise and instrumentation for studying mating systems and related genetic, physiological, behavioural, life history, and demographic features of terrestrial and aquatic systems.
With over 80 personnel including faculty, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and technicians, we provide a rich and stimulating intellectual environment for the integrative study of mating systems.
