Frequently Asked Questions on Statistics Major and minor programs

 

 

Q1:  I have taken ECMB11/ECMB12 (or MGEB11/MGEB12). I want to do Statistics major (or minor). STAB52 and STAB57 are required courses for the statistics major (and minor) program. STAB52 and STAB57 are listed as exclusions for ECMB11 (MGEB11).

Do I have to take STAB52 and STAB57?

A:   Yes. STAB52 and STAB57 are both required courses for the Statistics major (and Statistics minor) program.

 

Q2:  I have taken ECMB11/ECMB12 (or MGEB11/ MGEB12). I want to do Statistics major (or minor). STAB52 and STAB57 are required courses for the statistics major (and minor) program. STAB52 and STAB57 are listed as exclusions for ECMB11 (MGEB12).

If I take STAB52 and STAB57, do I get program credit for them?

A:   You do not get credit for STAB52. You get program credit for STAB57.

 

Q3:  I have taken MATA32 and MATA33. I want to do Statistics major (or minor). MATA30 and MATA36 (or MATA37) are required courses for the statistics major program. MATA32 and MATA33 are exclusions for MATA30 and MATA36 (or MATA37).

Do I have to take MATA30 and MATA36 (or MATA37)?

A:    You have to take MATA36 (or MATA37) in order to satisfy the requirements of the Statistics major (or minor) program. You do not get credit for this.

 

Q4:   I have taken STAB22. I want to do Statistics major (or minor). STAB52 and STAB57 are required courses for the statistics major (and minor) program. STAB52 and STAB57 are listed exclusions for STAB22.

Do I have to take STAB52 and STAB57?

A:     Yes. STAB52 and STAB57 are both required courses for the Statistics major (and minor) programs.

If I take STAB52 and STAB57, do I get credit for them? 

A:     You do not get credit for STAB52. You get program credit for STAB57.

 

Q6:    Can I replace STAB52 and STAB57 from similar courses in another campus?

A :     No. STAB52 and STAB57 (and STAC67) must be taken at UTSC.

If I take STAC67, do I get credit for that?

A:        Yes, you get program credit

 

Q11     Can I use CSCA08 instead of CSCA48 or PSCB57 to satisfy the requirements of the Statistics major program?

A         Yes.

 

Q12     Can I use some other course as a substitute for STAC67?

A         No.  STAC67 must be taken at UTSC.  When you have taken STAC67, you cannot take STA302 or STA303 for credit.
