If you are curious and have an inquiring mind; if you love language and story-telling; if you possess strong interpersonal skills; if you are resourceful; if you work well independently and in teams; if you are energetic...this is the program for you.

The program combines solid academic education (UofT) with technical and practical journalism skills (Centennial College). While there are academic requirements, there is a great deal of flexibility with regards to subject choices. UTSC academic courses teach students analysis, research, writing and effective communication skills. The Centennial College courses teach students practical journalism skills necessary for success in the field.

Students will earn a Honours B.A. degree taking courses at both UTSC and Centennial College, and may undertake a field placement and a course on journalism career management to also qualify for a diploma in Journalism from Centennial College.

For further information about the program and administrative issues, see the Frequently asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Important Announcement:

As of September 2011, the Centennial component for the Joint Program in Journalism will be moving from the Morningside Centre of Science and Technology to the Centre for Creative Communications at 951 Carlaw Ave in East York.  Students will be able to immerse themselves in a creative community, all the while benefiting from access to the globally recognized communications, media, art and design centre which provides state-of-the-art facilities.
