Effective July 1st, 2012, the Department of Humanities at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) has been replaced by three new academic units:
The Centre for French and Linguistics (CFL) is a vibrant academic unit that offers Specialist, Major and Minor programs in French and Linguistics/Psycholinguistics and a Concurrent Teacher Education Program for students interested in becoming French teachers. We also offer many language courses, such as Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Hindi.
The Department of Arts, Culture and Media (ACM) offers students a wealth of artistic and academic opportunities through our programs in Art History, Arts Management, Journalism, Media Studies, Music and Culture, New Media Studies, Studio, Theatre and Performance Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts. Students will also discover exciting events and programming through our Office of Arts and Events Programming, the Doris McCarthy Gallery, Gallery 1265, and the Leigha Lee Browne Theatre.
The Department of Historical and Cultural Studies (HCS) is the new home for programs in Women and Gender Studies, Religion, History, Global Asian Studies, Classics, and African Studies. We host the TLKY Program in Buddhist Studies. We support numerous digital, textual, and pedagogical research projects and offer a wide range of public programming from films to talks to conferences.
