IAHCGUA is co-sponsoring a GAC-MAC special session focussing on how the physical environment controls urban development and living conditions, and the role that the following topics play in shaping land use:

geographic setting
bedrock geology
surficial geology
hydrogeology and hydrology
geotechnical properties
mineral deposits
environmental hazards
waste management
industrial and municipal site remediation
use of computer databases (i.e. borehole logs and well records)

You are invited to submit an abstract for both oral and poster presentations, via web site, e-mail or mail. The deadline for submission of abstracts is January 15, 1999.

Abstracts must be accompanied with the following information: 1) Name of presenting author. 2) Number/name of symposium, special session or general session (e.g. SS4) and provide both first and second choice. 3) Invited paper (yes/no). 4) Preferred mode of presentation (oral, poster, either and any requests for special requirements). 5) GAC/MAC membership. 6) Student (yes/no). 7) Contact address, phone/fax and e-mail address for corresponding author.
