Exhibition of China's National Treasures

Some traditional paintings, considered China's national treasures will be shown at a free exhibition at the Toronto Center for the Arts on January 29, 2005, just before the NTDTV Chinese New Year Global Gala. These treasures belong to the Dai family currently living in Australia. They have been collecting such masterpieces from 5 generations ago and now they own over 70 such outstanding masterpieces. One of their ancestors was an official of the Qing Dynasty in the Emperor's Palace in Beijing. He had access to and started collecting these invaluable artworks. Included in the collections are paintings of Emperor Dao Guang, Emperor Mom Ci Xi, and around 40 other most famous Chinese painters, such as Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian and Xu Beihong. Representative paintings have been sold recently for close to US $2.4 million in Beijing. It is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to see these original masterpieces.

Ms. Meiling Dai, Tony Dai's mother, was paralyzed because of an immunological disease in 1997. Doctors could not do much to relieve her suffering. However she regained her health after starting to practice Falun Gong. She thereafter decided to use her much-valued collections to contribute to the efforts to debunk the lies spread by Communist China to defame Falun Gong and attack Falun Gong practitioners.

This event is jointly organized by the New Tang Dynasty Television and the Australia Chinese Culture and Art Association. Tony Dai is the President of the Australia Chinese Culture and Art Association.

It is pathetic that China's national treasures are no longer in China, and that all of China's best are in exile -- all owing thanks to the iron fist tyranny of the Communist regime. To have a fresh look at China, visit the home page of the China Research Association of the UTSC.
