| The role of food as nutrient and its social significance as symbol constitute the theme of this course. Topics to be addressed include human dietary needs and the myth of meat, the "meal", traditional dietaries, medicine and food, the green revolution, and global undernutrition.One or two field trips will explore the diversity of foodstuffs in Toronto, their origins, diffusion and meanings. |
