MgtA02 - Intro to Management

Summer 2006

MANAGEMENT

Course Evaluation

There will be two midterm tests (worth 20% each) a brief management report to be submitted (worth 10%) and a final exam worth 50%.

The mid-term tests will be scheduled during class time, at the end of the 4th and 8th week of classes. These will consist of 40 - 50 multiple choice questions and possibly 1-3 short answer questions. (The precise format will be discussed in class.)

The final exam will be scheduled during the August examination period and take place in mid- to late-August. The precise dates of the final exam will not be known until the final schedules are set by the Registrar’s Office, around the middle of the semester.

The final exam will consist of 50-60 multiple-choice questions and several short answer questions worth an additional 40-50 marks. The final exam will account for 50% of your overall evaluation.

The final exam will be cumulative in nature, covering material from the entire course.

Multiple choice questions require you to have detailed knowledge of the course material, and to be certain enough of your facts to avoid being mislead by choices that look correct but are not. This cannot be achieved through a one-time reading of the course material, or by last minute cramming before the exams. You will find it necessary to keep up-to-date with your readings throughout the term and attend classes regularly.

TESTS MISSED DUE TO ILLNESS
If a student misses a mid-term test, proper medical documentation must be submitted within 7 days of the midterm.
If you miss a mid-term test due to illness, the weighting of the final exam will be increased by the value of the test(s) that you miss. There will be no deferred or make up mid-terms.

Please note: The mid-term tests are not optional. Increased weighting to the final exam will be given only to those students who have supplied proper medical documentation explaining their absence from a mid-term. Failure to attend a mid-term, accompanied by vague claims of mysterious illnesses, will likely result in a student's grade being recorded as "incomplete" and lead to failure in the course.

Final exam conflicts should be reported to the Assistant Registrar's Office, no later than 3 weeks before the beginning of the exam period. If a student misses the final exam, they must follow the petition process as outlined in the UTSC Calendar.
