MGTA02 - Introduction to Management
Summer 2005
MANAGEMENT Procedures To Follow If You Claim To Have Been Ill During an MGTA02 Test
Every year, a large number of students, because they were unprepared, are suffering from performance anxiety, or because they slept in, try and claim that they were “ill”. It is not good enough merely to claim “I was ill, when can I write the make up exam?”.
There will be no deferred or make-up tests for MGTA02. The weight of the test that you miss will be added to the weight of the final exam.
If You Believe You Were Ill During a Mid-Term
You will need to furnish your Instructor with a Doctor's note. The note must state:
the precise date and time that the Doctor saw you,
the length of time (i.e. dates) that you were likely to be too ill to attend your exams,The Physician must clearly state:
that your illness would be likely to affect your ability to take exams.
that the Physician is advising you NOT to write your exams.Where possible, and without violating your privacy, it is desirable that the Doctor indicates your symptoms. A note which states merely "Saw patient" is NOT sufficient.
Without comprehensive and fully self-explanatory documentation, you will receive no grade on the relevant exam.
With comprehensive and self-explanatory documentation, received within 7 days of the midterm, the value of the missed midterm (e.g. 20% or 30%) will be added to weighting of the final exam.
If You Believe You Were Ill During the Final Exam
If you believe that you may be entitled to petition to write a deferred exam, you must follow the procedures outlined in the UTSC Calendar, specifically the sections which pertain to: Academic Regulations - Special consideration, petitions and appeals.
