Course Description MgtA02 "Introduction to Management" is an introductory survey course, designed to introduce students to: the study of business and management; and the role of managers and organisations in the context of Canadian society; and the role of the various functional areas of business (e.g. marketing, operations, finance). The course is aimed at students in their first year of UTSC's Management Programme, as well as upper year students in the Sciences and the Humanities who wish to get an overview of the study of business and management. The course does not pre-suppose that students have any prior knowledge or formal academic background (e.g. OAC Administrative Studies) in business or management. As a result of taking MgtA02 "Introduction to Management", students should leave the course with a good overall understanding of: how businesses work; how businesses interact with each other; how businesses interact with the various components of society; what managers within various functions of a business do.
