Transition Programs

Navigating the First Year at UTSC

Students experience several transitions during their academic education.  Perhaps the most important transition occurs when entering and completing the first year of university.  Our Service offers FREE programs prior to the start of fall term in addition to FREE sessions throughout the first year to help incoming students with disabilities thrive during their transition to university.

The transition programs answer the following questions and more:

  • What can I expect during my first year at U of T Scarborough?
  • What do I need to be successful in my first year?
  • How do I connect with peers with similar experiences?
  • What supports are available for my disability related needs?
  • How do I keep my mind and body healthy?
  • What is a first year lecture like?

Make the most of your first year experience by using transition support:

  • Develop an individualized transition plan
  • Understand the university life cycle
  • Create social connections with UTSC peers
  • Gain effective strategies for academic & social success
  • Enhance key academic skills:  time management, note-taking & academic reading
  • Learn ways to manage stress
  • Increase awareness of your strengths and challenges
  • Get to know the UTSC campus, culture and resources
