GPA Calculator for Planning and Estimation

This calculator is for planning purposes only. This is NOT an official Grade Point Average (GPA) calculator. It is a tool for advisors and students to estimate GPA based on students' anticipated performance. It does contain a margin of error so please regard your results with some caution.

Your official Sessional GPA (SGPA) and Cumulative GPA (CGPA) is available on ACORN and is calculated and displayed on your academic record.

Instructions for use:

  1. To determine your current or future hypothetical sessional or cumulative GPA, enter the course(s) you wish to include, choose the course weight (0.5 or 1.0) and your actual or anticipated grade in each course.
  2. If you like, you can start with your existing GPA by clicking the "Existing GPA" button and entering both your existing GPA and the total course weight it is based on (e.g. Credits Passed + Credits Failed = Total Course Weight). Be sure to include both failed and successful course attempts. Then you can add current and/or anticipated courses and grades, using one line for each.

Important Note:

  • Do not include transfer credits (outside UofT) and/or courses designated Credit/No Credit (CR/NCR) in the GPA calculation. These courses contribute to total credits earned but do not affect your GPA.
