Work-study can be a great way to gain professional experience!
We hire work-study students in late August (for Fall/Winter positions) and in late April (for summer positions. Positions are posted on the Career Learning Network page.
Positions currently offered:
Student Resource Specialist
The Writing Centre offers a wide range of programs and resources to support student writers. We are looking for students to help us manage these resources and improve student access. This could include assisting with maintaining and updating handouts and web pages, supporting sign-in and responding to student questions at writing clinics, workshops and special events, developing materials for peer coach program, reviewing and offering feedback on materials and programs for incoming students, meeting and welcoming new students and introducing them to writing at university from a student perspective.
Research and Data Analysis
Are Writing Centre programs working? How can we improve them? The Writing Centre collects data on student writing but we are experts on writing, not data analysis. We need a student with skills in quantitative research and data analysis to work on a research project using existing data.
Visual Communications Specialist
At The Writing Centre, we know how to write, but not necessarily how to produce attractive visuals that will help us promote our services effectively to students. Do you have good design skills, love to produce posters, web pages, videos? Can you think outside the box? work independently? Have you used the writing centre? We are looking for someone with ideas and energy to redesign and maintain our front window signage, create flyers and advertising for events and programs, make tutoring spaces feel welcoming to students, improve the visual design of our web materials and powerpoint slides.
