Pollinator Habitats

University of Toronto Scarborough has four beehives located on our Social Science Building rooftop. Our beekeeper, Brian Hamlin partners with the Sustainability Office to host various bee and pollination workshops and apiary tours throughout the summer and fall semester.

Toronto is home to hundreds of species of bees along with a variety of other pollinators.  In 2016, Toronto may become Canada’s first Bee City, growing and protecting the pollinator population.

Did you know: Bees along with birds, bats, beetles and butterflies pollinate approximately 30% of the world’s crop!
