Dr. Andrew Cooper is an an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), with an appointment to the Graduate Department of Psychological Clinical Science at UTSC. His primary role at UTSC is as an undergraduate educator, with additional teaching duties for graduates in the Clinical Psychology program on this campus.

Dr. Cooper is originally from the GTA and completed his Honours B.Sc. in Psychology at McMaster University in Hamilton. He received his M.A. (2010) and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (2013) at The Ohio State University, following completion of a pre-doctoral internship at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed a post-doctoral position with Dr. Norah Feeny in the PTSD Treatment and Research Program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, being promoted to Director of Research Initiatives before starting at UTSC in early 2017.

Emma is currently finishing up her undergraduate degree Mental Health Studies and applying to graduate programs in Clinical Psychology. Her interests focus on child development, particularly ways to make growing up less difficult, and she is committed to intersectional approaches combining evidence-based interventions with individual client preferences. She has worked on a variety of research projects, both individual and collaborative, and is currently preparing her thesis manuscript for peer review. After obtaining her PhD, she hopes to provide mental health support to children and families. In her free time, Emma can be found exploring Toronto neighbourhoods with her wife and dogs, eating gelato, and doing statistical analyses for fun!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jessica Chan

Jessica received her Hons. B. Sc. as a Mental Health Studies Specialist from the University of Toronto Scarborough in 2020. Her research interests include individual differences and treatment variables, with particular interest in using individual difference variables to predict treatment outcomes. Jessica intends to pursue an M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a goal of becoming a clinical psychologist and researcher.

 

 

 

 

 

Julia Schaefer

Julia graduated from UTSC in 2020 as a Mental Health Studies Specialist. Her thesis, “Evaluating Preferences for Digital Psychotherapies “, examined user preferences for various forms of mobile-app based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is interested in researching anxiety and mood disorders and the mechanisms of change in psychological interventions. Julia has been involved in numerous research projects and enjoys working with clinical populations. She is pursuing graduate studies in psychology so that she can provide evidence-based mental health services to adults and youth.
