Genderpoo was a guided workshop at UTSC led by the artist Coco Riot, named after their ongoing art project which seeks to challenge society’s conceptions of gender. This workshop was a casual, fun, yet thought-provoking experience which challenged UTSC community members to consider the safety/identity issues faced by members of the trans* community in institutions that impose strict gender binaries.
About Coco Riot
Coco Riot attacks binary systems that divide individuals in two categories: normal/others.
Genderpoo started as a project that wanted to question the social division of man/woman, using restrooms as metaphors of the social western binary system of gender, and it has evolved into a more ambitious project growing under anti-oppression values.
