Yi Wang

Human Geography

Biography:

Yi Wang is a PhD student in Human Geography at the University of Toronto and engages with the spatial political economy and cultural politics of working class formation and mobilization. His dissertation research focuses on how contemporary movements of food service and retail workers across the United States are reconstituting labor, work, and food as terrains of hegemonic struggle. This work integrates participatory action research and ethnography to investigate how articulations of race, class, gender, citizenship, and nation are tied up with contested productions of territory, place, and scale. Yi has worked previously with Food First and the Food Chain Workers Alliance and considers California his home in diaspora.
