From celebrity-branded chai to matcha lattes, Canada’s love for tea has grown exponentially. Yet for many countries, tea has always been important. This simple brew of plant leaves and water has a long, thriving cultural and religious history. The Tea & Buddhism workshop series at the Centre for Buddhist Studies will tell this story of tea: Featuring Dr. Jayeeta Sharma speaking on Himalayan histories of nature, commodity, & intimacies, followed by a tasting of Himalayan teas by Connie Fong, Tea Sommelier. Registration is required for each event separately, and space is limited: Please visit http://buddhiststudies.utoronto.ca/2017/09/22/tea-buddhism-workshop-seri... to register and for future workshops with the Centre for Buddhist Studies.
